Abhyanga - Āyurvedic massage

Abhyanga is a wonderfully relaxing Ayurvedic full body massage with warm herbal oils, aimed at calming the body and mind, improving circulation and nourishing the body tissues.

The use of all-natural herbal oils provides a more profound effect of the massage. The warmth promotes a soothing experience and brings the oil deeper into your tissues.

The pressure and type of oil are determined by a questionnaire, which you fill out in advance, as well as a short intake interview prior to the massage. In the intake, your current health is discussed and both pulse and tongue diagnosis are taken.

Ideally suitable for physical and mental unrest, stress, fatigue, muscle pain and dry skin.

Important information

Intake

After booking your appointment you will receive a questionnaire, which you may fill out and send back. At the appointment a short intake interview of about 15 minutes will take place (included in the time of the Abhyanga).

Since Abhyanga is not suitable for everyone at all times, the questionnaire or intake may show that Abhyanga is not possible at that time. In this case, the appointment can be converted to an Ayurvedic consultation or another treatment that is more suitable. To make sure this process happens as smooth as possible, you make a deposit of €35 in advance and pay the remaining amount afterwards.

The massage

During an Ayurvedic massage, the entire body is treated. Also the chest, armpits, buttocks, feet, face and hair. If you feel uncomfortable with the treatment of a body part, let me know! Then we can choose to skip this body part or find another solution.

Abhyanga is not suitable when you are menstruating . So try to take this into account when planning your appointment. If you are menstruating on the day of the appointment, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule the appointment.

It is important to receive the massage on an empty stomach , this is most comfortable and helps with better absorption of the oil. Try to plan the massage so that you eat nothing or as little as possible for 2 hours before . If you are prone to dizziness, it is wise to eat a light meal.

Also make sure you wear clothes to the appointment that can get oil on them . If necessary, bring a hat and scarf to protect your head from the cold afterwards, as cold oil on the head can cause cold symptoms.

After the massage there is time to calm down and drink a cup of tea. If possible, make sure you have the rest of the day to rest. Drink plenty of tea or warm water the rest of the day and make sure you stay nice and warm.
